‘The Bourne Legacy’ Trailer: Five Key Scenes

Jeremy Renner’s rogue agent is introduced in badass ‘Bourne’ fashion.

Jeremy Renner makes his big debut as the latest agent gone rogue in “The Bourne Legacy.” Picking up where Matt Damon left off, Renner plays Aaron Cross, an apparent improvement over Jason Bourne.

You’ll have to head over to Apple to check out the brand-new trailer, but we have the five key scenes you need to play attention to:

Background
The trailer immediately sets the mood with a little help from the opening credits of Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho.” The bars sliding across the screen directly borrow from the horror classic and make things creepy quickly. Jeremy Renner’s character gives the name “Kenneth,” despite being listed in the credits as Aaron Cross. At the beginning of the trailer, Kenneth/Aaron does not look well. His left eye sags, and the right side of his face is speckled with blood. Immediately, we’re questioning who he is and what he’s been through, a good thing when introducing a new character to the series.

‘Well, That Has Healed Well’
If Aaron is “Treadstone without the inconsistencies,” that may imply he is, in fact, stronger than Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne. The physician looking at Aaron’s hand in the trailer remarks that it had healed well, as if it’s something remarkable. Does the removal of those Treadstone inconsistencies include a rapid healing ability?

Introducing Edward Norton
Norton joins the cast as the newest villain in the series, and he makes for a welcome addition. In the trailer, we’re introduced to his character, Byer, who tests Aaron to see if he’s completely committed to the program, known as “Outcome.” Norton leaves little doubt that he’s going to make for a worthy opponent in a series known for its intelligent bad guys.

Reintroducing Albert Finney
The introduction of a new main character does not preclude the appearance of some familiar faces. Both Finney and Joan Allen reprise their roles, as Dr. Hirsch and Pamela Landy, respectively. They will be the main through lines to the original trilogy and should help make a little more sense of the new direction for the series.

The Fire Extinguisher
Though it may not ultimately mean that much for the story, a move as inventive as sticking a nail into the end of the fire extinguisher has to be acknowledged.

“The Bourne Legacy” hits theaters August 3.

Avril Lavigne, deadmau5 and Nickelback were also nominated for Canadian music awards.

Just days before the Grammy Awards are handed out here in the States, the nominees for the Canadian version of the music awards show, the Juno Awards, were announced on Tuesday (February 7) with Drake, Justin Bieber and Michael Bublé all landing nods.

Some of Canada’s biggest acts will face off in the Album of The Year category: Avril Lavigne for Goodbye Lullabye, Drake for Take Care, Justin Bieber for his Christmas-themed Under the Mistletoe, Michael Bublé for his holiday album Christmas and rockers Nickelback for Here and Now.

Bieber scored his second nomination in the Fan Choice Award category along with Arcade Fire, Lavigne, City and Colour, deadmau5, Drake, Ginette Reno, Hedley, Bublé and Nickelback. He, however, didn’t manage to land any nods in other major categories like Artist of the Year.

His pal Drake did nab a nom in the Artist of the Year category, along with Feist, Bublé, City and Colour and Deadmau5. While the roster of nominees for the show is uniquely Canadian, Drake’s Stateside crossover makes him the most high-profile nom in the Rap Recording of the Year category. His Take Care will face off against Classified’s Handshakes and Middle Fingers, D-Sisive’s Jonestown 2: Jimmy Go Bye Bye, Kardinal Offishall’s Anywhere (Ol Time Killin Part II) and Swollen Members’ Dagger Mouth.

Nickelback, Feist and Deadmau5 are among the artists set to perform at the show, which takes place on April 1.

A number of Juno nominees are also Grammy-nominated. Deadmau5, for instance, won’t have to wait until April to find out if his hard work has paid off. He is also up for several Grammy Awards including Best Dance/Electronica Album for 4×4=12. Drake’s work on tracks with Rihanna and DJ Khaled and Nicki Minaj has shined some Grammy light on him this year as well. And, Bieber’s “Born to Be Somebody” from his movie “Never Say Never,” is up for Best Song Written for Visual Media.

Nicki Minaj To Perform New Single ‘Roman Holiday’ At Grammys

Young Money Barbie will release ‘Starships’ a day after awards show.

Nicki Minaj is in takeover mode. The Young Money rapper donned her best cheerleader outfit for the Super Bowl halftime show with Madonna on Sunday night, and next week she’ll storm the Grammys — performing her new song “Roman Holiday” — before officially releasing her latest Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded single “Starships.”

On Monday, February 13, just a day after the Grammy telecast, Nicki’s “Starships” will premiere on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show and make its way to iTunes shortly afterward.

Minaj gave fans the first preview of her sophomore album with the single “Roman in Moscow” back in November, followed by “Stupid Hoe” in December. The release of the Hype Williams-directed video for “Stupid Hoe” last month was accompanied by an announcement that her much-anticipated album would be pushed from its original February 14 release date to April 3.

“New Album Date: April 3rd. Pink Friday: ROMAN RELOADED,” Minaj wrote to her loyal followers on Twitter. “But have no fear. Tons of surprises before then . Love Always, HB.”

One of those surprises will come at this year’s Grammy Awards, where Nicki is set to perform a brand-new, unreleased single, “Roman Holiday” (the tune will also appear on Roman Reloaded). The performance will mark her first time on the Grammy stage, an honor she adds to noms for Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Album for her 2010 debut Pink Friday.

Cash Money Records CEO Birdman is among the few who have already heard Minaj’s new album, and he’s given it glowing reviews. “She’s grown so much as an artist. She’s so talented that this sh– is scary,” he told Complex. “She really is the female Weezy. Hands down, she bad as a mother—-er. Her talents, skills and what she’s done with her music and the way she is in front of a camera. She’s just so talented to be so young. It’s a brand-new style. I’m just so glad she’s on our team.”

The 54th annual Grammy Awards are set to air Sunday, February 12, on CBS at 8 p.m. ET.
